About

Giving Now Magazine

Giving Now Magazine is the first of its kind in Bangladesh to consistently advocate for disability issues through professional and literary content. Powered by the global generosity movement GivingTuesday, the magazine serves as both a voice for the disability community and a bridge to the broader generosity ecosystem in Bangladesh.

Launched in June 2023 under the leadership of Mr. Shakil Azad Monon, Founding Secretary General of the Organization for Disabled Improvement and Rights (ODIR), Giving Now Magazine is a monthly, international-standard publication dedicated to promoting the rights, development, and inclusion of persons with disabilities.

Our Mission & Vision

  • Become a leading international platform that transforms public perception and policy on disability.

  • Amplify the voices of marginalized communities.

  • Inspire a culture of inclusion, empowerment, and generosity across Bangladesh and beyond.

  • Promote inclusivity, empowerment, and awareness through storytelling and research.

  • Advocate for the rights and development of persons with disabilities.

  • Engage with the global generosity movement to foster social responsibility and innovation.

Editorial Team, Contributors & Advisory Panel

Under the guidance of Chief Editor Md. Mekail Ahmed, the magazine began with a nationwide volunteer recruitment campaign. Young writers and editors were engaged through content and essay writing contests across universities, laying the foundation for a passionate, talented editorial team dedicated to shaping inclusive narratives. Guiding the vision is our advisory panel—thought leaders, community builders, and experts—who help ensure our content remains relevant, balanced, and impactful.

You can meet the full editorial team, contributors, and advisory panel in the opening pages of each issue.

The Organization Behind the Vision

ODIR (Organization for Disabled Improvement and Rights) is a well-established, voluntary, non-governmental organization founded on 6th July 2012. Operating from its own premises in Moghbazar, Dhaka, ODIR works actively with children and persons with disabilities through a variety of initiatives, including:

  • ODIR School for Children with Disabilities

  • ODIR Physiotherapy and Healthcare Centre

  • ODIR Handicrafts and Vocational Training Centre

  • Official country leadership of GivingTuesday in Bangladesh

As a continuation of its advocacy efforts and generosity leadership, ODIR launched Giving Now Magazine to amplify the voices of persons with disabilities, highlight organizations in the sector, and expand the reach of generosity across Bangladesh.
